Design is as good (or flawed) as the people who make it
No one sets out to intentionally design a system that is hard to use - or worse, excludes or discriminates against - some users. Designers are trying their best. You're probably a good person, but a human nonetheless, therefore not perfect. Design can only be as good as the people who make it. Conversely, design is as flawed as the people who make it.
Over the last century the body has emerged as a platform for devices, including internal medical devices and wearable fitness monitors. Within the last decade individuals have begun voluntarily inserting non-medical devices into their bodies. What are people putting in their bodies and why? Are insertables the next thing?
By now we all know we are not the user, it has been drilled in to us enough times. But how do you design for people you might not know exist?
